billups’ David Koppelman recognised with inaugural OAAA Honors Circle award

David Koppelman, Managing Director, US at billups, has been recognised by the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) as a recipient of the inaugural 2026 Honors Circle Industry Innovation Award.
The award recognises individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the Out-of-Home industry through innovation, leadership, and long-term impact.
Over a 30-year career across organisations such as billups, MacDonald Media and Ogilvy & Mather, David has pioneered new approaches in OOH — consistently pushing the medium beyond traditional execution and championing its role as a strategic, performance-driven channel.
From placing synthetic turf on street media and launching the first digital taxi-top programme, to introducing live sports scoring and breaking news integrations for ESPN on digital billboards, he helped spearhead some of the industry’s first station dominations and championed programmatic-led thinking before it became standard market practice.
At billups, David continues to lead large-scale campaigns and high-impact brand activations for clients including State Street, Nike, NYU, Converse, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Prada Eyewear, Invesco, and View Boston.

Recent work includes the State Street Times Square takeover, anchored by a Guinness World Record-breaking Nasdaq Closing Bell event and amplified through a coordinated OOH roadblock across Times Square and FiDi, featuring live feeds, digital spectaculars, and immersive brand experiences.
Alongside campaign leadership, David continues to play an active role in shaping the wider industry. He has served on multiple Geopath committees, held judging roles across OAAA awards programmes including Plan of the Year and Rising Stars, chaired the AAAA OOH committee, and contributed to the DSE advisory board.
